Residential Counselor I (Canyon Lake, TX)

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant (MA) is in charge of administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of our physicians. The Medical Assistant is in charge of the administrative duties and functions in relationship to patient care. The Medical Assistant is in charge of clinical tasks for the care of the patient. We place a strong value on customer service. The MA must be highly motivated and self-directed and willing to be a part of an outstanding team of professionals.

Summary of essential job functions:



1. Ability to obtain vital signs from patients, alerting physician of abnormal vitals immediately

2. Assign patients to examination rooms

3. Acknowledging and clarifying patients' reason for doctor visit

4. Taking clear and concise patient history, list of medications, allergies, etc. . .

5. Prep patient for examination and any procedures

6. Prepare and arrange examination room and set up necessary equipment for procedures

7. Assist physician in patient care and minor surgical procedures

8. Administer injectibles/medications as per doctor's/PA's orders

9. Able to perform: Venipuncture, Urinalysis Testing, Occult Blood Screens, EKGs, Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT), Audiometry tests, Vision screens, Nebulizer treatments, screens for Strep, Cultures, Checks on Pulse Oxygen levels, etc. . .

10. Prepare items for autoclaving/sterilization procedures

11. Ability to read and follow-up lab results to provide accurate information to physician and patient regarding test results & other in-house procedures

12. Knowledge of insurance carriers both commercial and government payers (HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, Carelink) and pharmacy preferences

13. Must understand medical terminology

14. Provide full time clerical and organizational support

15. Utilize strong customer service abilities to assist patients

16. Must have excellent data entry skills

17. Perform clerical tasks repeatedly with exact results related to the maintenance of all patient records

18. Use e-MDs to: Schedule appointments for provider, access patient charts, log notes, charge capture, all documentation regarding patient, reviewing & entering information, scanning and importing patient records, faxing, obtaining preventative care sheets, compete assigned tasks

19. Answering and returning patient, specialist, and health care provider calls, and making any other necessary calls regarding patient care on that same day

20. Utilize vendor portals

21. Perform general medical office duties

22. Demonstrate dependability, reliability and commitment to position

23. Ability to work well under pressure and multitask

24. Strong attention to detail to reduce errors

25. Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional demeanor

26. Be courteous, polite and helpful to the public, patients, providers, management and coworkers at all times

27. Bilingual - English / Spanish



Requirements and Qualifications:



1. High School Diploma or equivalent & MA certificate

2. Computer literate. Knowledgeable of Microsoft Programs.

3. Interact effectively and in a supportive manner

4. 1 + Years MA experience

5. Knowledge of HIPPA policies and procedures

6. Able to execute assigned tasks in timely manner

7. Strong customer service background

8. Excellent communication, organizational, multi-tasking, and interpersonal skills

9. Background in healthcare or human services preferred

10. Other duties as required and assigned
