Behavior Technician (Arlington)

We have an immediate opening for a part time Behavior Technician in Arlington.

Support children with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors that are currently living in their home environment. Most, but not all, hours are needed during after school hours (2:30PM to 8PM). Applicants need to be available during these times.

SL Start provides personalized services that enrich an amazing group of children and adults with developmental disabilities. We strive to be the provider of choice by personalizing our services to meet each person's needs and preferences by creating a positive working environment that values and releases the talent, energy and creativity of our teammates.

Each child supported in our Children's Program has an individualized plan that is tailored to their unique needs and goals. We assist them with decreasing maladaptive behaviors and increasing socially relevant behaviors, daily living skills, communication, community interaction and recreation.

The Behavior Technician implements written positive behavior support plans as directed by a certified Behavior Specialist. This includes one-on-one behavioral interventions and skill development activities. Services will be provided to children with challenging behaviors ages 8 through 21 in the child's home or other community-based settings. The Behavior Technician will provide client and/or parent training in applied behavior analysis (ABA) interventions, including Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT) and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and Discrete Trial Training (DTT).

Job Duties:
• Maintains knowledge of individuals, their health/medical needs, and their service plans. Provides therapy as scheduled and as outlined in each individual's service plan and assists the individual in achieving their goals.
• Maintains an accurate record of services delivered, time worked, and mileage/expenses incurred. Documents and collects data and notes to adequately show individual's progress toward goals on service plan.
• Ensures that Behavior Specialist is informed of events impacting individuals receiving support and services.
• Completes a minimum of 45 hours of training every 3 years in continuing education related to children with developmental disabilities and challenging behavior.
• Other duties as assigned by the Behavior Specialist.

Qualifications:
These are Washington State requirements and cannot be waived.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, preferably in psychology, education, social work or related field.
• Ability to satisfy a criminal background check and drug screen.
• 800 hours of relevant course work and/or training in principles of child development, learning theory, positive behavior support techniques, dual diagnosis, and/or behavior analysis. May be included as part of the degree program.
• Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds of unbalanced weight
• Two years of relevant experience in designing and/or implementing comprehensive behavioral therapies for children with developmental disabilities and challenging behavior. One year for a person with a Master's degree.
• Maintain licensure/certification with the state of Washington in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 18.19RCW, if applicable. (For example, a Licensed Social Worker must maintain an active license).
• First Aid and CPR certification or the ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Willingness and ability to provide excellent customer service and represent the company in a positive, professional way.

Activities Assistant (First Hill)

Horizon House, a premier Continuing Care Retirement Community on Seattle's First Hill is looking for one part-time (2-7:30 Saturday and Sunday plus occasional special events as planned) and one on-call Activities Assistant in our Supported Living department.

The Activities Assistant provides therapeutic programs and individualized activities therapy to individuals and groups of residents of Horizon House's Supported Living (assisted living) department following lesson plans designed by the Social Services staff. They may also record therapeutic activity according to facility policies and departmental guidelines.

Requirements include high school diploma and minimum one (1) year's experience working with older adults in long-term care. Some college preferred. A proven interest in the older adult population and a sense of humor are a must. Qualified applicants must be able to demonstrate correct body mechanics for lifting and transferring elders and for ambulating elders with assistance. Must be able to lead seated exercise, push/pull wheelchairs or large tables and chairs for programs, be able to stoop down to speak with residents in wheelchairs, be able to lift up to 50 pounds, be able to push, pull, lift a minimum 20 pounds to a height of 4 feet for a minimum distance of 40 feet and be able to hear, speak, see and feel, adequately to perform functions of the position. Interpersonal skills to include patience when interacting with senior adults is essential and creativite streak is a real plus!

Work for a small mom-and-pop company/warehouse in North Greenwood area preparing and packaging customer orders. We currently have 5 employees. Our company primarily serves customers in the fashion and apparel industry, leather-crafting, and alternative music fashion by filling website orders and phone-in orders. This position consists of: preparing, packaging, shipping small orders, and restocking products.

Candidate desired is proficient with office software like Excel and Word, and Internet e-commerce. Must have exceptional attention to detail when filling customer orders, and preparing products for shipment. Experience shipping with United States Postal Service, U.P.S., FedEx, Endicia and Stamps.com preferred. Experience with online shopping-cart software and EBay is a plus.

• Select inventory to fill orders, utilize various methods of packaging and shipping
