Maintenance Assistant – Part Time (Petersburg, VA)

Position Title: Maintenance Assistant
Status: Part-time, hourly
Salary Range: $9.17 to $9.38 per hour depending on experience

Primary Duties:
The Maintenance Assistant is directly responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of Pamplin Historical Park’s buildings and grounds.

Responsibilities:
The Maintenance Assistant will:
• Perform general janitorial maintenance of all Park buildings.
• Participate in cutting and trimming of lawns and meadows.
• Maintain trees and shrubbery.
• Perform leaf and litter removal.
• Perform trail construction and repair.
• Safely operate electrical hand tools and grounds equipment, including chainsaws, weed eaters, blowers, and tractors.
• Possess the ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies related to weather events, equipment failures, or any other facilities problems.
• Assist other departments and participate in special events as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Rating Factors:
• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of relevant hands-on experience.
• A positive work record demonstrating reliability.
• Effective verbal communications skills.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• A valid Virginia Driver’s License.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Position Summary:

HAZCO has an immediate need for an experienced AUTOCAD Technician to join our HAZCO Environmental Technologies team which is based out of Richmond, BC. The AUTOCAD Tech will play a crucial role within the Projects team; providing technical drafting and designing support to both internal and external clients. Drafting and Designing will be required to support a variety of projects including, hydrographic mapping, civil base plans, mechanical equipment and systems and record or as-built drawings.

Responsibilities:

•Endorse the NOBODY GETS HURT principle by ensuring all HAZCO and site specific safety policies and procedures are followed during any field visits and when at the office.
•Provide drafting and designing services for our Projects team.
•Assist Project Manager in the timely and accurate completion of bid packages
•Work closely with Project Manager and Project Coordinators in the interpretation and calculation of technical design criteria; using that data to generate a visual representation of the project and its requirements
•Assist with material take-offs on drawings as required for bid packages and project execution.
•Assist Project Managers in the drafting and design of new mechanical systems and layouts
•Assist Project Surveyor in generating hydrographic maps including the mapping of ponds and other waterways.
•Receive customer base plans or survey plans in digital formats and convert to generate HAZCO specific project drawings for bid packages, project execution and promotional displays.
•Manage all project drawing files and standards including modifying existing standards as required to stay current with software and industry expectations.
•Generate technical manuals including illustrative drawings, material lists and photographic documentation for custom built equipment.
•Provide project administrative support when required
•Work with internal and external survey resources to generate as-built and record drawings including spending time in the field collecting data for the same.

Qualifications:

Technical:

•Related post secondary education such as a Technologist diploma or other related drafting and design certificate.
•Previous experience in a construction or engineering environment a definite asset
•Competent at using AUTOCAD and other drafting/design software
•Understanding of technical drawings and the ability to read and understand blue prints and P&ID’s
•Understanding of base plans and spatial coordinates and the ability to insert aerial images to scale into new and existing drawings from programs such as Google Earth Pro.
•Ability to generate and understand plan and profile drawings for civil and mechanical applications.
•Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite as well as other operational specific applications including the use of mobile phone devices.
