Account Executive – Beer Industry (Milwaukee Based)

Taphandles is a high-energy, Seattle-based beer marketing company that is rapidly growing. We are the beer industry’s leader in branding and point-of-sale products. Our wholly-owned factories and in-house design team are exceptional in delivering to breweries to help us live up to our goal of helping our breweries “sell more beer”.

The Account Executive (AE) will be responsible for selling throughout a large geographic area in the US and Canada. Since the majority of the breweries are already Taphandles customers, the AE will be spending the majority of their time building strong relationships and uncovering new and larger sales opportunities within each account. This will include in-person visits and extensive calls and emails, as well as brewery events and Beer Weeks. Additionally, the AE will look for new business opportunities of start-up and non-customers within their areas.
The AE will work in partnership with the corresponding Project Manager (who is based at the Corp office) for each account to help drive the daily execution of projects from the design process through final delivery. They will work closely with the Project Manager to make sure the customer relationship is strong and that customer service is exceptional. The AE reports directly to the Sales Manager to plan, who will help to strategize and make sure all business opportunities are maximized within each territory.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work closely with brewery owners, purchasers, marketing and procurement of breweries, ranging from small to large, to promote Taphandles products and offerings
• Deepen/develop customer relationships throughout the assigned region
• Cold-calling into breweries that are non-customers
• Strong follow-ups and regular visits to the breweries within the account portfolio
• Attend beer-related events to network amongst the brewing community and support customers
• Work with the Sales Manager to plan and effectively increase revenue within the assigned area and identify new opportunities and targets
• Form relationships and create sales from new start-up breweries and non-Taphandles customers within the region
• Gain a strong understanding of the beer industry, including trends, movement and structure within each brewery

Skills/Expectations:
• Ability to work remotely from a home office, yet collaboratively with the Corporate office
• Spend necessary time in travel, visiting breweries and attending necessary events, as well as regular visits to the Corporate office (average of 1-2 weeks per month of travel)
• Outside sales/hunter sales experience
• Exceptional verbal and written skills
• Superior planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities at once
• Strong communication with customers as well as with the Sales Manager and other Corporate-based colleagues (Designers and Project Managers)
• Responsible and effective use of social media/networking skills
• Desire for growth and personal development
• Weekly reporting and communication with the Sales Manager on progress/growth of the accounts as well as tracking new opportunities and projects uncovered
• Independently driven

Requirements:
• Bachelors Degree
• 2+ years experience in outside sales
• Ability to travel extensively throughout parts of the US and Canada
• Home-office working capabilities

Salary/Benefits:
• $52,000 starting salary with up to 70% bonus opportunity (expected total comp = $90k)
• Growth opportunity
• PTO, medical insurance, HSA
• Training and mentorship to grow and develop
• Strong company culture
• Visiting breweries!

Detail is important! If you want to apply, carefully read the following and respond accordingly. We will only consider those applicants who do the following:
1. Write us a custom cover email in the body of your email and attach your resume. Our process starts with your letter.
** We only look at resumes if we’ve been captivated by the cover letter. Remember, you are the product, I’m the buyer. . .Sell me.
2. Use the following for your subject line: I have (fill in the blank) years of outside sales experience (Milwaukee)

** Short but sweet: Why do you want this job and why do we want you?
** Check out http://beermapping.com/ and make note of the scattered distribution of breweries. Please explain your feelings traveling to visit breweries and building relationships with them. As travel is a part of this position, what will be the best and worst parts of this job for you? We’re looking for an honest answer to the worst parts, “none” won’t cut it.
** Talk to us about your approach to relationships. Then describe how you think business relations of yours will describe you if we inquire.
** Do you work best under direct management or independently?
** What’s your favorite beer and why?
** Free form paragraph (keep it short!)
