Landman Client Liaison (Texas)

PetroCounsel, one of the leading oil and gas title law firms in the country, is seeking a landman client liaison. This is very much a customer service position, which needs strong people skills on top of solid industry experience and connections within the industry. We are really good at writing title opinions, but unfortunately, the traits that make a good title attorney don't necessarily translate to being able to talk to normal people that well - you see, they don't let us out much. We are looking for someone who knows the industry cold that can help us not always talk like lawyers, interface with clients to get feedback so that we can continually improve our service, and to help our attorneys to reach out and support the industry in meaningful ways. We believe that our principal product is providing peace of mind, that family comes first, and that work can be fun rather than a source of stress.
Though we're not ruling anything out, we would expect that the successful candidate would have a related degree (PLM, law, etc.) or designation (CPL), and would have in-house land experience pushing rigs, including interfacing with attorneys and ordering title opinions. We also suspect that the successful candidate will be active in their local AAPL chapter (if not the national organization) and have a broad number of personal contacts in the industry. We would also expect that the successful candidate is largely self directing and can operate effectively unsupervised, is more optimist than pessimist, has a glass half full rather than half empty outlook, and is a roll-up-the-sleeves innovative problem solver when the situation requires. We run a national title practice out of our offices in Hurst, Texas (DFW Mid-Cities), so travel will be involved, and while being resident in DFW could be convenient, we also see that being resident in Houston or Denver could also work (though an initial training/orientation week or so in Hurst would be desired). The position is a full time salaried position with benefits, commensurate with your experience and skills.
