Life / Health Agents – Look Here

MARKET: Our agency specializes in life insurance to protect mortgages for the family with average income and health, and is in desperate need of new agents to properly serve our ever-expanding lead/response base. We mail out over 1.5 million letters each week to people with life events such as new mortgages, new marriages, pending retirements, new babies, etc. (in addition to internet and telemarketing). We get back at least 15 to 20 thousand requests every week from people who would like us to show them their options for life or disability insurance. They give us a lot of personal information and we book the appointment to sit down with the family and sell the insurance that meets their needs and budget. Bilingual agents will find an even larger market.

CARRIERS: The dozen or so insurance companies we work with are household names like Mutual of Omaha, ING and Fidelity, and we have a lot of clout with them. We have non-medical policies (no exam/bloodwork/medical records required) available from most of our carriers, so about 85-90% of what we sell actually results in an issued policy, and we are paid very quickly for our efforts. One carrier is now issuing policies as quickly as SAME DAY from electronic applications, so you can be paid for your efforts in as little as 3-7 days.

PRODUCTS: Our bread and butter consists of Term & Basic UL, as well as Final Expense/High Risk. We also have standalone disability, AD&D, a wide range of Fixed Indexed Annuities, Indexed Universal Life, Tax Free Retirement options, children's policies, and a smattering of long term care, med sup, and more to meet individualized needs. We can even write HIV+ and recent cancer survivors on NON-MEDICAL.

COMPENSATION: This combination of ready-to-buy clients and non-medical policies puts our agents in a very unique position to make a good living immediately. Our average sale nationwide is for $1,000 in annual premium, with a 55% starting commission rate for new agents. (Commission rate can increase every 2 months). Call it an average $500 commission per sale for simplicity. One sale per week is a $25k income. Typical part time agents (10-15 hours per week) do about $35 to $50k per year, and full time agents (about 35 hours per week) can very reasonably aspire to 6 figure incomes.

UPSELLS/REFERRALS: Many families we sell insurance to then allow us to show them other products to help meet needs such as risk-free retirement planning, often with much higher commissions. Our referral and upsell system is very extensive.

TRAINING & ADVANCEMENT: Agents are strongly encouraged move on to management, and extensive training and mentoring is provided both for sales and leadership. Think you know it all? You probably won't be happy here. Overrides on team production range from 5%-55% plus bonuses.

NOT LICENSED? Becoming a life & disability agent requires passing a test. The Department of Insurance and the insurance companies will run criminal background checks, and bad credit will be a challenge with some insurance companies (but not insurmountable in most cases). Licensing generally takes 2-3 weeks and $300-400.

INTERESTED? To learn more and apply for a position: Send a short note in addition to your resume via the "reply to" link at the top of this posting.
