Two Men And A Truck is the nation's largest local moving franchise. We are looking for people with good attitudes. We are hiring full and part time workers. We are looking for people that want to work in either location and any time. You must be DRUG FREE. If you are not, don't waste our time. You must have a clean driving record (no DWI or reckless driving/multiple tickets), valid license, and a good work ethic. Again, if you have a bad driving record, do not apply. Our drivers also move so if you're looking to just drive a truck, this isn't that kind of a job. We have only a limited number of openings. Experience is not necessary because if you have the right attitude we can train you. If you work in a restaurant or do landscaping and are tired of the monotony, we may be the company for you! Every day and every job is different so it's not the same thing day after day after day. We need people who want to move up into the driver's position once we know they can do the job. Our moves are mainly local so you will not be on the road for day on end. Besides our hourly rate of pay, our employees can get tipped pretty well too! Come on in and fill out an application. We have 2 locations. The main office is in Valpo off of US 30 by the Valparaiso Airport and 325 (behind Fastenal). We are the next left after the Pilot Gas Station on US 30. The address is 4701 Airport Rd. Our satellite office is on 231 in Cedar Lake. We are next to Martins Landscaping. The address is 10007 W. 109th Street in Cedar Lake on the Cedar Lake/St. John border. Don't call to make an appointment, just come in. We are looking to hire now, so if you want to work for a great company, don't hesitate to come in. We look forward to hearing from you!
You can also do the application online with this link. Included in it is a drivers/movers assessment test. We have an online application and a placement test. Here is the link:

Music Business Summer Internships (West Loop)

Summer Internships Available -- You Can Work in the Music Industry!

The Music Garage is looking for interns.  Being our intern is hard work.  You'll be drained at the end of the day.  You'll be busy all the time (no stuffing envelopes here).  BUT you'll be on the front line of everything we do (which is a lot more than renting first-class production spaces to the Chicago music community).

We are a top-of-the-line music rehearsal space in Chicago.  We rent hourly rehearsal spaces, monthly rehearsal spaces, drum shares, teaching studios, and engineering suites.  We understand that when artists are looking for a studio or rehearsal facility, they aren't just renting a space, they are investing in their business.  That's why we've made it our mission to provide the facilities, tools, and information artists need to achieve their goals.

We believe in entrepreneurship.  We live it and breathe it here.  In our facility we house a TV and Internet reality show, music classes, Vic's Drum Shop, a repair shop, and a business incubator.  We have a close community atmosphere with over 2,000 musicians passing through our doors each week.  We love for our interns have an entrepreneurial spirit and work with them to foster it.  In return for your hard work, we'll provide opportunities whenever we can.

Open positions:

Everything Intern (everyone does this) -- You will be the face of the Music Garage.  You'll greet each customer as they enter our space.  You'll prepare our hourly rooms (it will help if you know basic live engineering skills, but we'll teach you if you don't), work at our front desk, help us stage and prepare our rooms, and handle general questions.  Your job is to get to know all the amazing artists who are in our building, make friends with them, and become part of the fabric of our community.

Specialized positions (combine one of these with the Everything position):

Social media / interactive intern -- write our blogs and develop relationships with other music industry companies.  Make friends with our community members and build our base.  Run our Twitter, Facebook, and Foursqure accounts.  Update our websites (we use Wordpress).  You must be witty, clever, and know how to write.  There will be a test. You must have an active twitter account to be considered for this position.  (Note: we'll never ask you to use your personal accounts for company business, but we like to know that you can find your way around online.)

Organizational guru intern--Two thousand musicians pass through our doors each week.  That's a lot to keep track of.  You'll manage our database, maintain processes and documentation, create rental maps, coordinate calendars, and whatever else you can think of!  If you like to color code everything and the people at the Container Store know you by name, this is made for you.

Marketing intern -- Fill our building with amazing people -- really amazing people.  Work with our staff to develop brilliant marketing campaigns that will make us a common name in the Chicago music scene.  The Smashing Pumpkins, Black Crowes, Van Morrison and many others have rehearsed here.  We also have a deep pool of local talent in the building.  We are working to build co-promotional opportunities with other businesses in the industry.  Help forge those relationships and execute the plan.

Promotions intern -- Build our street team, promote our events, create crazy marketing stunts that get us in Rolling Stone.

Event coordinator intern --We promote concerts, hold seminars, clinics, workshops and just about any kind of event you can think of that takes place in the music industry.  We also have booths at trade shows and conferences.  You'll coordinate, plan, and execute all aspects of our events.  If you like producing events and managing the organizational side of them, this position is perfect for you.   Who knows, maybe you'll get to produce your own event while you're here.

Graphic Design intern -- Are you a Photoshop and Illustrator whiz?  Do you spend your free time sketching and making flyers for your friends' bands?  This position is a great opportunity to grow your professional portfolio.  Our graphic design intern should be comfortable in both print and digital media.  You'll be conceptualizing and designing national and local print advertising, flyers, web banners, and large scale signage for both Music Garage and Vic's Drum Shop.  Please only apply for this position if you meet all the requirements -- we'll want to see samples of your work!

Live Sound / Studio intern -- We run 8 hourly rehearsal rooms each with a full backline.  We need an experienced person who can trouble shoot common problems with live sound engineering.  This internship is ideal for those studying audio production.  You should also know how to change drum heads, cymbals, set up mics, and set up amps.

The right candidate is:

·         Smart, passionate, organized, entrepreneurial in spirit, web-literate, and a self-starter

·         Not above grunt work (we've all mopped the floors)

·         Equipped with strong writing and communication skills, fluent in MS Office

Requirements (do not apply if you do not meet these requirements):

·         Desire to learn about the music industry / recording industry / entrepreneurship

·         Customer-service focused

·         Fluent in MS Office (Word, Excel)

·         Strong communication skills (verbal, written, oral)

·         Ability to make independent decisions.  We don't hand-hold.  If we hire you, we believe that you can do the job.  If you need constant reassurance then this internship isn't for you.

The Perks

·         College credit

·         Unlimited coffee supply

·         Use of rehearsal spaces when they are unused (<---- that's a big one)

·         Access to top industry professionals (rock stars hang out here!)

·         We're also known to throw some pretty awesome parking lot BBQs and Whirly Ball at least once/semester.

The Details

THIS IS AN UNPAID, PART-TIME INTERNSHIP.  We can't pay you, but we'd be delighted to help you get college credit.

We're looking for summer interns who can dedicate 15-30 hours/week beginning May 7, 2012 -- September 14, 2012.  Interviews start the week of April 23 with training starting on Monday, May 7, 2012.

How to apply:

Research Music Garage.  If you love what we do and think you can positively contribute to our team, send an email with subject line: Internship T874 to the email address included at the top of this ad.  Include your cover letter and tell us why you want to intern here.  (Hint -- this is way more important that what's on your resume).  Also send your resume in .pdf or .doc format.  Creativity is welcomed.  Professionalism is necessary.  Remember, this is an UNPAID INTERNSHIP 15 -- 30 hours/week beginning week beginning May 7, 2012.
